yet many children with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs

(SLCN) go unidentified, leaving them at a disadvantage. At Chatterbug,

we’re here to change that.

We are a social enterprise with a mission to empower children by

developing their communication skills. Innovation is at the core of

everything we do, and our vision is to ensure that children with SLCN

receive the support they need to thrive, while equipping educators and

professionals with the tools to make a lasting impact.

To date, we’ve proudly supported over 50,000 children and 450

schools across the UK, with our team of fully qualified Speech and

Language Therapists (SLTs) and Communication and Language

Specialists (CALS). Our services are designed to provide a holistic,

integrated approach to SLCN support.

We offer a range of services, from traditional Speech and Language

Therapy and CALS provisions to our innovative OEPR® Patient Record

System. This system allows schools to easily upload referrals, track

progress, and access detailed reports—all in one place.

Through our virtual Chatterbug Academy®, we provide flexible,

on-demand learning for educators, parents, and professionals. Our

courses are designed to fit seamlessly into busy schedules, ensuring

continuous professional development without disruption.

One of our standout innovations is the Intervention First® programme,

which offers a six-week targeted screening and intervention using the

Brightspeech App. Delivered by our CALS, this programme empowers

educators to take immediate action to support children’s communication

needs.

In 2025, we proudly launched our most innovative service yet: Teaching

First™. Developed through our partnership with the Brightspeech App

and a hybrid of our services: Intervention First and Chatterbug Academy,

this intensive programme is designed to upskill teachers and educators.

It enables them to identify, screen, and intervene with children

experiencing targeted specialist speech and language difficulties, all

while being supervised by experienced Speech and Language Therapists.

This approach empowers teachers to become Communication and

Language Specialists within their own classrooms, whilst equipping

them with the tools they need to identify and address communication

development early. This eliminates long wait times for specialists and

delivers significant time and cost savings.
