Information

justice facilities requires a nuanced understanding of the diverse and specialized populations they serve. This is especially critical for juveniles; individuals with mental, behavioral, or medical health needs; and women, whose facilities demand additional and differentiated services to support care, rehabilitation, and outcomes. This session examines key architectural touchpoints along the “journey of hope,” illustrating how intentional design can support dignity, healing, and rehabilitation. HDR Architecture will present select project case studies, core design philosophies, and evidence-based methodologies that align with the fundamental principles of rehabilitation. HDR will be joined by Unlocking Potential, a consultancy and training firm focused on creating fair, effective, and transformative justice systems by empowering individuals, teams, and organizations to unlock their full potential through leadership, personal responsibility, and human-centered solutions. The session will conclude with facilitated dialogue aimed at advancing standards and best practices in correctional design and care on a global scale.
