Information

Virtual Decisions is a UK-based social innovation organisation using immersive virtual reality (VR) experiences to support behaviour change and decision-making across criminal justice, youth services, education, health and community safety. We have 6 engaging VR experiences that allow participants to navigate real-life scenarios — from knife crime and anti-social behaviour to post-custody planning — in a safe, simulated environment, helping individuals see the consequences of choices before they happen. Each experience is supported by extended learning packages (ELP) that delve deeper into the themes, issues and topics raised in the VR.

In youth justice, Virtual Decisions works closely with Youth Offending Teams and Youth Justice Services, using the VR experiences combined with ELP’s to improve engagement, spark meaningful conversations, and reduce risk-taking behaviours among young people. Our decision-led VR tools have been adopted in out-of-court resolutions with strong early evidence of reduced reoffending and increased awareness of risks.

The company also partners with health-justice teams to support adults transitioning from custody and reintegrating into the community — for example through a programme that helps plan for release and build decision-making skills in the critical first hours after leaving prison.

At its core, Virtual Decisions combines human-centred tech, research-informed content and trauma-aware facilitation to open up conversations and improve outcomes for vulnerable people and the professionals who support them.
