This is the result of a concerted and coordinated effort over more than 25 years by the Danish national government, municipalities, and regions working closely together to build a strong digital infrastructure.
The Danish model is characterised by a unique national identifier, a structured framework for data sharing, a close cooperation between public-sector ownership and private-sector delivery and, not least, a strong focus on implementation.
The Danish Embassy is committed to mutual learning and sharing best practice between UK and Denmark, as outlined in the MoU signed by the two countries in January 2026.
